Andre for DA - Postcard (1)_Page_1.png

Born in South Africa, Andre Pretorius lived there until age 15 before moving to the USA, where he learned English. He earned his degree from Georgia State and his law degree from John Marshall as a part-time night student while working full-time, primarily in Public Works and construction.

Andre's first legal job was with the Hall County Solicitor’s office, where he tried nearly 100 jury trials in four years, earning the Assistant Solicitor of the Year award.

His wife, Gretchen Eichenlaub, is a labor and delivery nurse turned women’s health nurse practitioner at Savannah OB/GYN. She is one of the few mental health-certified nurse practitioners in Savannah and serves on the board at Safe Shelter. They have three boys who attend public school.

Andre served as the Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney over State Court in Chatham County for eight years, creating multiple successful diversion programs with a 95% non-recidivism rate. He also handled a large caseload across various courts and implemented an electronic discovery system, managing 10,000-12,000 cases annually.

Currently, Andre is an Assistant County Attorney in Chatham County, the solicitor for Tybee Island, and a part-time Assistant Solicitor in Effingham County. He serves on the board of Donate Life WELD (We Encourage Living Donors), having donated two-thirds of his liver to a stranger. He is passionate about living organ donation and has spoken on its benefits. Andre is also involved with Operation Kid Forward, Pack 57 in Skidaway, and St. James Catholic Church, among other community roles. He is 2023 Leadership Savannah graduate.
